Who should attend?

This full day course is aimed at professionals and volunteers who work with people who have limited social networks. The course is also suitable for professionals who have short contact periods with people, enabling a first level assessment of potential issues.

Numbers are restricted to 6-12 delegates per course.

 

Objectives

At the end of this course you will be able to -

  • Understand how Resilience, Transitions and Social Networks impact on the individuals using your services.
  • Support service users to explore their social networks, improve social skills and develop positive relationships
  • Consider how their services can embed social networks practice in order to improve outcomes for individuals

Trainers

Ally Calder created and managed the first Social Network specific project in Scotland, in 2003. With a background in Social Work, Community Education, Management and Training she was a co-writer of the original Social Networks Training Pack. Ally has since developed and delivered the training across Scotland to audiences working within Housing, Social Work, Health and the Voluntary Sector.

 

Alistair MacDermid is experienced in delivering a variety of training to a range of client groups.  Having become practised in working on the front-line in homelessness, specialising in work with young people, Alistair now manages relationship focused services.  Particular interests include service user involvement, health and relationships.
